Curtis Schilling, class of 1985
Shadow Mountain is proud to boast Curtis Schilling, star pitcher for the World Series-winning Arizona Diamondbacks, as a Matador alumni.    Here Curtis is shown in the 1984-85 yearbook with the Varsity Baseball team, above.  The accompanying text reads in part,"With a record of 100 wins and only 30 losses covering the last five seasons, was it any wonder that the Shadow Mountain Varsity Baseball team had been the most successful sport at Shadow Mountain?....[Coach] Stetser felt he had a strong pitching staff with Seniors Rick Rock, David Cassidy, Curtis Schilling, Ed Janashak, and Sophomore Kelly Boyer." (Kelly Boyer, class of 1987, is now a Mesa police officer.)  Below, another yearbook photo; the caption reads, "Stretching out his calve (sic) muscles is Curtis Schilling, senior."  Indeed...
Do you have any funny memories to share about Curtis?  I only met him a couple times because he used to hang around with my best friend's brother (Andy Patt).  Seemed like a helluva nice guy.  Too bad I never asked him to sign my yearbook... :0)
